Privacy policy
Effective October 13, 2026. Applies to the Asof app for Android and to the website www.asof.day.
Asof is a camera that puts the date, time and place on your photos and turns them into reports. It has no account, no ads and no analytics. Your photos stay on your phone. This page lists everything the app keeps and the few things that leave the phone.
What stays on your phone
- Photos and reports. A copy of each photo you take with Asof or add from your gallery, the stamped copies, your report details (title, job, notes, addresses), signatures you collect, and your logo. They are stored in the app's private storage. We never receive them. They are deleted when you delete a report or uninstall the app.
- Your gallery. If "Save camera photos to the gallery" is on (or you save a photo yourself), a stamped copy goes to the album "Asof" on your phone. Deleting it there does not affect your reports.
- Files you share. PDFs, CSV, ZIP and map files are created on your phone and go only where you send them.
What leaves your phone, and why
- Address lookup. When the camera is open and you allowed location, or when a photo you add from your gallery has a GPS position in its file, that position is sent to your phone's address lookup service (on most phones provided by Google) to find the street address. Asof does not send it anywhere else. Location is optional; without it photos still get date and time.
- Clock check. While the camera or Settings is open, Asof makes one ordinary web request to asof.day (or to google.com if asof.day does not answer) and reads the server's time to compare it with your phone's clock. The request contains nothing about you or your photos. Like any web request, it reveals your IP address to that server. The asof.day server is run by Cloudflare.
- Purchase. The one-time unlock is sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment; we never see your card details. The app asks Google Play whether this Google account owns the unlock.
- Backup. Android may back up your Asof settings (company name and options) to your Google account. Photos, reports and signatures are excluded from this backup.
What we do not do
- No account and no sign-in.
- No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no analytics or usage statistics.
- No sale or sharing of personal data.
Google Play may give us anonymous crash and performance statistics about the app, as it does for every app in the store.
Permissions
- Camera — to take photos.
- Location (while the camera is open) — for coordinates and the street address on photos. Optional.
- Internet — for the address lookup, the clock check and Google Play.
- Photo location (Android 10 and newer) — to read the GPS position saved in photos you add from your gallery. Optional; without it those photos get no location.
- Storage (Android 8–9 only) — to save stamped photos to the gallery. Newer Android versions need no permission for this.
Photos from your gallery come through Android's file picker, which gives Asof only the photos you choose.
Children
Asof is a work tool and is not directed at children under 13.
